Introducing Happy-go-Lucky Charlie
That wagging tail means Charlie is happy to meet you! Charlie is a 10 year-old mixed breed terrier (we think Jack Russel or Fox mix) about 35 lbs. He came to a shelter after he was hit by a car and suffered from a dislocated hip. The staff at the shelter quickly fell in love with Charlie’s happy-go-lucky attitude and reached out to our rescue for help.
He’s been recovering from his surgery nicely while in a foster care home, wagging his tail through the aches and pains and never complaining a bit. He has a limp from his injury, which he will probably always have, but it doesn’t stop him from enjoying mellow walks up to 2-3 miles (but not too hilly). He doesn’t like climbing up steep terrain, or full staircases, but doesn’t mind a step here or there to get up on a porch or deck. He doesn’t mind being picked up and carried if there are too many steps. Charlie is mostly house trained, but due to his recovery he’s working on some occasional drips that will hopefully clear away with continued healing.
Otherwise, Charlie plays nicely with other dogs, is not protective of his food or snappy with other pets. He loves men, women and children of all ages, and greets everyone he meets with a big wag. He does well in the car and is not destructive when left alone. His favorite things (besides getting lots of attention) are snacking on apples, carrots, potatoes and blueberries.
Charlie is loving, adaptable and lives the motto “being nice is nice.” He is a happy guy who would love to join his forever home soon.
