This year, One Planet Rescue saved another very special dog. He was called Chuck at the shelter and now Roux, a 4-year-old Shepherd mix who stole the hearts of everyone who met him at the shelter. Roux was shy at first, but once he trusts you—watch out, because you’ll never have personal space again! He’ll rest his face on your lap and happily soak up pets for as long as your hands will keep going.
When Roux first left the shelter, the world was a little overwhelming. He was scared of other dogs, nervous on walks, and unsure of new things. But with love and patience, he has blossomed! Now he enjoys adventures with his foster siblings, loves neighborhood walks, and even takes beach trips—where he often ignores the waves just to gaze at the real beauty… YOU. He’s calm in the car, loves road trips, plays a little fetch, and is perfectly content when left alone.
But recently, Roux’s journey took a difficult turn. His vet discovered a large bulging disc in his lower back—a painful condition he endured silently, never once complaining. To relieve his pain, Roux underwent a laminectomy surgery, where part of the spinal bone was removed to take pressure off his nerves and spinal cord.
The surgery was a success, leaving him with an impressive scar (the kind that will drive the ladies wild 
)… but also leaving us with a $10,000+ bill.
We knew Roux’s health and happiness were worth every penny, but now we need your help.
