DONATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR BRODY’S SURGERY!!

👆

Over the weekend, I read about little Brody through the San Jose Animal Advocates. The shelter has given him a heartbreaking deadline: June 10th.

“If no rescue or individual steps up by then, he’ll be euthanized.”

I couldn’t sleep all night thinking about him — a little puppy, found alone on the streets, hit by a car with no one to protect him. Somehow, he survived and was rushed to MedVet before being transferred to City of San Jose Animal Care & Services. He is one of the lucky ones… but he’s still in serious trouble.

Brody is estimated to be about 10 weeks old. He’s suffering from multiple pelvic fractures, is swollen and bruised, and is in urgent need of specialized orthopedic care — care the shelter simply cannot provide.

It breaks my heart to think of this sweet little boy lying there in pain, with an uncertain future. There’s a real risk of permanent nerve damage, incontinence, or worse.

Despite everything, Brody remains gentle and affectionate.

I’ve arranged to get him out and into the hands of the amazing Dr. Fitch at Beacon Veterinary Specialists — the same surgeon who performed Devlin’s successful bilateral FHO surgery.

After a full exam, the news was mixed: due to sciatic nerve damage in his left leg, amputation has been recommended. However, Dr. Fitch believes he can repair the right leg, and there’s a 50/50 chance Brody won’t suffer from long-term incontinence if surgery goes well.

And there’s more good news: huge thanks to Diemanh & Ken, who lovingly took in two paralyzed Frenchies we rescued last year — now thriving at Willow’s Wings Animal Sanctuary, Inc. and Home For Life Animal Sanctuary. They’ve once again opened their hearts and will be fostering little Brody before and after his surgery this Friday, June 13th.

🔥 We now have an estimate for the surgery and urgently need help to cover costs. We’ve raised $3,000 so far, but we need $13,000–$16,000 total to give Brody the life he deserves.

Please consider donating — every bit helps give this little guy a future. 🐾💛

Adopt Me!: Benji

Meet Benji – your future snuggle buddy and dog training champion!

Benji’s story started out a little ruff. This scruffy-faced smart cookie was once left out in the cold with barely any shelter, until his rescuers brought him to safety and a loving foster home. Since then, he has made a lot of progress and has made a number of human and dog friends. He’s almost fully house-trained, has been learning cues such as Sit, Touch, Place, Find It, and more. He’s now eager to find his forever (or foster-to-adopt) home!

Benji is a lovable mixed breed with a low-shedding coat and a heart full of love. He’s got energy to spare when it’s playtime, but when it’s nap time? He’s the ultimate cuddle bug. He sleeps in his crate and has been learning to chill like a pro.

He’s very intelligent, eager to learn, loves his food puzzles and games, and will happily walk with you and enjoy outdoor adventures.

Because of his past, Benji is still working on his doggy social skills and can be a bit territorial at times. He’d currently thrive either as the only dog in the home or with a calm, dog-friendly companion who respects his space. A home without young children would be the best fit for him.

Benji is looking for a family that’s committed to positive reinforcement and force-free training methods. With consistency, patience, and kindness, he’s eager to keep learning new behaviors, build confidence, and expand his repertoire of life skills. He’s come such a long way already, and with the right support, he’ll truly shine!

Benji is a 2 year old adolescent, neutered, and up-to-date on his vaccines.

Adopt Me!: Maisie

6+ year-old Maisie is the sweetest, most easygoing, adorable 4-legged companion you’ll ever meet! Our little princess has been getting the TLC she needed over the past couple of months, and now she’s thriving and ready to find her forever home!

She’s the sweetest thing with a happy and positive disposition. Her current foster has never had a dog with such an easy-going temperament. She loves exploring the neighborhood, snoozing on the couch, eating treats of any type, and hanging out at the park with her doggie friends. She is proud of her figure, having shed those excess pounds with a healthy diet and exercise—no Ozempic for our girl.

We just recently learned that our girl is friendly around cats… Just like most dogs curious on the walks but at home environment she’s very chill and happy to coexist!

Maisie has Horner’s syndrome, a non-painful condition that causes her face to droop slightly on one side. Far from a flaw, it only adds to her charm, making her even more lovable. She drools a bit—so if you’re the type who wears Dior, owns snow-white couches, or panics if some slobber touches your cashmere throw, this girl is probably not for you. But if you value personality over perfection, she’s ready to bless your home with her quirky, lovable self.

2024 In Memoriam

As we ring in the new year and prepare resolutions for 2025, it’s also our opportunity to reflect on 2024. The One Planet Rescue community gave the most precious gift of life, love, and second chances to hundreds of animals this year.
… We gave a safe place to recover and heal thanks to our amazing foster homes
… We made sure medical care and treatments were paid thanks to your donations
… And we said goodbye to some of our beloved pets, who leave us with an empty place in our lives, but also with an abundance of love in our hearts from their time with us. We have put together an album featuring these loved ones to honor their gift to us.

Now we look toward 2025 with hope and commitment to continue our mission. The vital part of it remains support from you – our community. Maybe you already support through a monthly contribution (ensuring we can plan ahead), maybe you give the gift of your home as a foster family, or, you purchase our annual calendar, which funds our operations (we still have a few left, and would love to sell out!). Whichever role you play, we thank you, because many small actions add up to make a big difference.

We look forward to achieving more amazing things with you in the new year. Please reach out if you have any questions on how to continue to support One Planet Rescue.

Adopt Me!: Jules

Meet Jules! The Playful Pup Extraordinaire!

Looking for a small, young dog with a big personality? Jules might just prance right into your heart! He is about 10-12 months old neutered, and up to date with all of his vaccinations.

Playtime Prodigy:
Jules is all about fun! Whether it’s playing with doggie friends of all sizes or showing off his puppy-style antics, this little spitfire knows how to bring the joy. He loves his toys, peanut butter chews, and a variety of interactive food puzzles. While he loves to play, high-energy or overly boisterous dogs aren’t his vibe—he prefers a more polite playstyle.

Walking Buddy Extraordinaire:
Walks with Jules are an adventure! He struts his stuff with confidence, never pulling on his harness and leash. While he walks nicely, he can still use some training and guidance through positive reinforcement and gentle training methods to teach him more life skills so he can become even happier and more confident when encountering the world out there.

People & Pets Approved:
Jules is cat-friendly and likes other dogs. When it comes to people, he’s a bit shy at first and needs space, but give him a few minutes, and he’ll warm up to you at his own pace. He’s not big on being cuddled or held too close, especially by new people, but don’t worry—he’ll climb into your lap when he’s ready to get to know you a little better.

Smart & Sweet:
Jules is as clever as he is charming. He loves puzzles, learns quickly, and thrives on ongoing reward-based training… There’s still so much to learn. While he’s 95% potty trained and needs to be guided to his bathroom area outside to prevent him from having accidents in the house.

Ideal Home:
Jules dreams of a family with a consistent schedule (morning, afternoon, and evening walks are his jam!) or access to a yard. Canine siblings? Yes, If they’re a good match! He’s still young and hasn’t gone through formal training and he will do well in a home with no young children, and a commitment to teaching him useful cues and life skills that will set him up for a lifetime of happiness and success.

A True Diamond in the Ruff:
With his sweet disposition, playful spirit, and dashing non-shedding coat (a little grooming keeps him looking fabulous), Jules is ready to be your new best friend.
Are you ready to make Jules the center of your world?

Adopt Me!: Brody

Affectionate little Brody loves people and other dogs!

Brody follows his person around the home and asks for snuggles at every opportunity. He always wants to make his friends smile, whether by giving a little cuddle, performing a trick, or just by being a goofy pup.

Although Brody is quite small, he is not intimidated by larger dogs, He seeks out big dogs in the dog park for wrestling and races. He even likes to nap on his bigger foster sister! Brody is still learning his doggie manners, but listens when other dogs tell him to back off.

Brody has not yet undergone formal obedience training, but he is food-motivated and learns quickly with treats. He already is house-trained and will signal when he needs a potty break.

A little shy at first, Brody understands that treats mean you want to be friends. He warms up to women after a week of being offered snacks, and to men after about a month. Despite his initial fear of people, Brody is a very forgiving little guy. He will shy away rather than growl, and rarely barks. Brody will sound the alert when someone is at the door, but stops with a firm “no.”

Meet Stitch: Donate!

‼️‼️ Meet Stitch ‼️‼️

Stitch gets mistaken for the actor Macaulay Culkin all the time. Could it be his sweet, open, approachable face? His amazing blond hair? Or maybe it’s because he got left Home Alone during the holiday season! OOOOHHHH NOOOOO!!

Stitch was discovered shivering in the bushes on a rainy day, left without a home or family. A kind-hearted veterinarian (who is a dear friend and has taken care of so many of my cases including our Patoo throughout the years) rescued this little 16-pound lovebug. It quickly became clear that Stitch was an adventurous sweetheart with some medical conditions who had escaped from his family’s yard while they were away. Unfortunately, the medical costs were too high for his family, and they ultimately decided not to bring him back.

I am helping Doctor G raise $5,000 to cover Stitch’s medical expenses. Before he can be adopted into his forever home, he needs to be neutered, receive necessary medication, and possibly undergo surgery. Our dedicated veterinarian has done everything she can, but it appears that Stitch will require the assistance of an orthopedic specialist, a neurology specialist, and possibly knee surgery.

Please help Stitch by donating or sharing his story. Every dollar, every share, and each act of kindness can bring our brave little pup closer from Home Alone to Home for the Holidays. Stitch (or was it Kevin McAllister?) says, “Will you please tell Santa that instead of presents this year I want my family back?”

Please go to our Donate page or visit this link to donate, and please mention Stitch in comments:

$50 donation: “Keep the change, ya filthy animal!”

$100 donation: “Bless this highly nutritional microwaveable macaroni and cheese dinner and the people who sold it on sale. Amen.”

$1,000 donation: “Merry Christmas, little fella. We know that you’re in there and that you’re all alone.

Joking aside, every dollar helps, friends …🌹🙏🐾😇
