A day with Rocco! He was on death row because of a broken leg! He endured the pain for weeks until @arezooshaytoon brought him to our attention and offered a foster home if we took him on. We arranged for the surgery and the foster family took good care of him while he recovered. We moved him up to NorCal and Venus’ family (the husky) took care of him for several days before he went to @filomenafarmssj until he found his furever loving parents @jeratti & @itsjuancarlosaguirre ♥️🙏 He had a play date with Venus, Gorgi and our other rescue (during Covid 19) “Chacho”

Leila’s story!
Another lucky one leaves the shelter! Thanks to Priscilla & Duy who stepped up to foster @sanjoseanimalcarecenter ‘s “Yaki” (now Leila), she finally gets a chance to taste the good life! We were approached by @dawn_piazza of San Jose Animal Advocates group to take on a super shy girl who may not have a chance to avoid death row. Apparently her owners who had her since she was a puppy (now 8 years old) decided they could no longer keep her and they claimed she attempted to bite the owner when he tried to leash her up! (After 8 years? Wonder why?!)
When we went to the shelter (w prior arrangement), she was avoiding getting anywhere near us. It really worried me to take on another difficult case and again if it weren’t for Pricilla and her husband who stepped up to foster her (longterm), she wouldn’t be out today. We had the pleasure of going on a nice hike this morning which is only Day 1 since she’s left the shelter! Stay tuned for more about Leila as we learn all about her.

Smokey’s Story
Our dear friend Armani of @bravedogsadvocacy was evaluating Smokey the other day when we went to pull Jazz (now Reeva) from @sanjoseanimalcarecenter. He caught my eyes especially that the poor boy was skin and bones. We had someone lined up to foster Smokey but at the last minute, we learned his landlord was not thrilled he’s a pitbull, so I reached out to another Angel who had offered to foster for us and we were waiting for the right fit. Karen said yes without any hesitation! I pulled Smokey and we went straight to Dr Lim at Kirkwood Animal Hospital where he confirmed that Smokey had untreated diabetes mellitus for several weeks if not months. He’s also severely underweight and was dealing with an ear infection also. He received fluids, his ears were deep cleaned and we were sent home with insulin, ear meds and eye drops for his dry eye. It’s been 6 days since Karen has been taking care of little man Smokey and we can already see he’s gaining weight (slowly) and he even got to go to the beach with his lovely foster mama this weekend. Please stay tuned for more about Smokey. Please consider helping us when you can as without our supporters we would not be able to take on these wonderful dogs who have most likely been neglected most of their lives and need medical care. Oh and PLEASE consider fostering. We can help save so many more beautiful lives if we have families willing to foster for us.

Sonny!
When we took on Sonny, we would have never guessed he’d find his forever loving family as fast as he did! In case you missed Sonny’s rescue story, be sure to check out our first post about him. Pam & Dave contacted us as she saw a post about Sonny in a private group page and by the time she reached out to the original family who were looking to re-home him, @oneplanetrescue had stepped up and taken him on. She then wrote to us letting us know she’s interested to meet little man Sonny! Thanks to @filomenafarmssj who helped accommodate our visit, we all masked up and met at the farm. After our meeting, I suggested they think about it and get back to us. I don’t think Pam had arrived home, yet she texted me saying “He’s just a love, Farah and Sami. We’d love to have him join our family.” We went through the adoption process and arranged to meet outside the animal clinic as we had a follow up appointment with Dr Gonzalez to check on his urine infection. He was clear of the infection yet he would need to continue with his pain meds until his little body gets the much needed TLC to gain strength while using his cart and future physiotherapy … thank you Pam & Dave for opening your home and your kind hearts to Sonny. He is in for a treat and we are truly grateful!
Best life :)
